Progress reports
NIHR-funded researchers are required to provide regular progress reports to the us. This reporting allows us to review the progress of research projects against their plan, review any issues and their impact, and identify whether help or advice is needed.
The nature and frequency of reporting varies according to research programme, project stage, and key milestones, but progress reports are generally due every six months.
When your project starts, we will advise you of the dates or milestones when your progress reports need to be submitted. We will also send you a reminder when a report is due.
We will read your report and associated documents and provide feedback.
Global Health Research
For Global Health Research progress reporting is different. When your project starts, we will advise you of the dates or milestones when progress reports need to be submitted. We will send you a reminder beforehand. We will read your reports and associated documents and provide feedback.
Annually you will be asked to provide a full report of progress and key data to support Official Development Assistance (ODA) transparency reporting.

Updating trial records and registries
During delivery of your research project, Clinical Trial registry records should be updated as necessary to include final enrolment numbers achieved, and the date of primary study completion (defined as the last data collection time point for the last subject for the primary outcome measure).
In addition, all relevant trial registry information must be reported via agreed progress reporting schedules.
Read more in the NIHR policy on clinical trial registration and disclosure of results.
