Gastroenterology

Summary

We support and deliver research in the following areas:

  • inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
  • functional gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome
  • coeliac disease
  • gastrointestinal infections
  • disorders of the oesophagus
  • gastrointestinal emergencies including bleeding
  • developments in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy

We oversee a wide range of studies. These include:

  • single-centre, multi-centre, early stage, observational studies
  • randomised controlled trials of medical, surgical interventions and medical technology
