Further information about devolved administrations

Each of the four UK Health Administrations that utilise the Central Portfolio Management System (CPMS) have developed a criteria for determining which studies can be included in their respective portfolios.

Northern Ireland

Due to the scale of Northern Ireland the range of potential studies eligible for NICRN support may exceed the staffing capacity. NICRN cannot support automatic eligibility. Instead there is a formal adoption process which focuses on capacity to ensure that the finite resources of the NICRN are used in a coherent and strategic manner across predefined disease specific areas to maximise the benefit of all service users of Health and Social Care.

Wales

The Welsh eligibility criteria include studies where funding is awarded in open competition across Wales and other devolved administrations and is of relevance to NHS and/or social care.

The Health and Care Research Wales (HCRW) will also consider other high quality peer-reviewed studies deemed to be important in Wales for adoption onto their Portfolio. The HCRW Clinical Research Portfolio adoption criteria is available on their website.
