Angela King is NIHR Public Contributor representative on the NIHR Strategy and Engagement Board.

She has been an active patient advocate for over 30 years, including 20 years of Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in health research. She has personal experience of several long-term illnesses and cancer-related end of life caring for 3 loved ones.

Angela has worked in the NHS, Social Care Leadership Development and in a leading pharmaceutical company. From working in the voluntary sector as helpline volunteer, Trustee and then CEO, her focus has shifted to PPI in health research.

She regularly works with the NIHR, Cancer Research UK, the NIHR PenARC, the University of Exeter Medical School and the Birmingham Biomedical Research Centre.

As well as serving on several advisory committees and commissioning boards/panels, she is also involved in individual research studies in a variety of roles, contributes to writing articles and papers, delivers workshops and lectures on PPI, and presents at conferences.
