Professor Kate Jolly
Professor Kate Jolly is Co-Chair of NIHR Programme Grants for Applied Research subcommittee B.
Kate is a Professor of Public Health and Primary Care and Deputy Head of the Institute of Applied Health Research at the University of Birmingham, and an honorary Consultant in Public Health with Public Health England.
She trained in medicine at Bristol University (1981-86), trained in general practice then completed an MSc in Public Health Medicine at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and trained in public health. Kate was a clinical lecturer in public health at the University of Southampton, and then at the University of Birmingham where she obtained her PhD in 2008.
Kate and has worked in Birmingham since 1999 and was appointed to Chair in 2012.
Her research interests focus on the prevention and management of important non-communicable diseases, particularly cardiovascular and respiratory conditions; behaviour change to reduce obesity and increase physical activity; and maternal and child health, particularly breastfeeding.
Kate has previously been a member of the NIHR Research for Patient Benefit Regional Advisory Committee West Midlands and the NIHR Post-doctoral Research Fellowship Committee.
